Fairfield Inn Suites shoot in DC

December 2nd, 2008

Well, I’m outta here today, Tuesday the 2nd, to head up to DC for a 3-day industrial shoot. I say “Tue the 2nd” because I thought it was the 11th earlier when I went to Studio Center to pick up a check…I’m losin’ it. Before I leave, though, I’m heading back to Studio Center for a voice-over audition. Kinda cool! I’m trying to get into voice-over a little bit more this year for some potential extra income, so here’s a good chance to try my hand at it! So after that, it’s up to DC; I’m staying with some friends through Friday. I’ll be home Saturday night, and looking forward to some much needed relaxation Sunday!

So until then, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I’m still eating leftovers believe it or not! See you all back at the Beach in a few days!

Philly or Bust!

November 23rd, 2008

Well at 1pm tomorrow I’ll be at Diane Heery’s in Philly for an audition for the feature film Law Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx and [rumored] Catherine Zeta-Jones. The sides we received for the audition aren’t much to work with, which makes it a fun challenge to show casting something creative and different. I’m heading up tonite to stay at a hotel and get some good rest!

Also tomorrow, I’m sending my audition tape to Kent, a producer on the indie film “Patient 27.” I’m really excited to get that out because the role was a nice stretch for me as an actor and I think I did a pretty nice job. We’ll see what pans out with that project. And next week is another big week: a 3-day gig in D.C. for Marriott, and right after that a CBN shoot.

Well thanks for reading! If you haven’t seen them already, I found some pictures from some old shoots I did (most are new pics) and I posted them on my ’space. Check em out HERE.

new things.

November 18th, 2008

Well Sorority Row was a blast! I met some awesome people and had a great time! My scene was short and sweet and I made it home in time for a gig in Richmond!

This week’s started out great as well! Last night, we had a photographer for the Va Pilot in our classes taking pictures for an article to be written about the school, so that was kinda cool. Today I’m updating some things since the agency was sold to Studio Center and I’m working on my audition for a new independent film down in NC. Check out New Daydream Films and look at the movie “Patient 27.” Thanks to Andrew Roth for hooking me up with this audition, too. I’m really excited about it! So that’s THIS week.

Oh wait, I left something out… OK don’t make a huge deal about it, but my birthday is on the 21st. I’ll be…older than I look. Alright that’s done.

So the following week is T-giving, my favorite time of year! I LOVE eating during Thanksgiving!

And then after that, December, and guess what? Booked on two shoots! One’s a Marriott Service Video. I’ll be up in the DC area for the 3rd, 4th and 5th of December and then back down ASAP for a shoot with Susan Mann here at the Beach on the 6th! And with a little help from my friends, praying I mean, maybe I’ll book “Patient 27″ and have a chance to work on that project! Wink wink! OH and did you like that Beatles reference? “Little help from my friends”? Did I just show my age? Nawwwww :]

Totally bananas

November 9th, 2008

This week is nuts!

  • Monday - shoot for CBN with Susan Mann. I’m a cowboy! Yeehaww!
  • Tuesday - Up to Pittsburgh for wardrobe fitting for “Sorority Row”
  • Wednesday - Shooting my scene in the film; my character is Wasted Guy!! I think I’ll have my shirt off. LOL
  • Thursday - Comcast Event gig in Richmond - I get to wear a suit!
  • Friday - Back home to recoop!

Yes, it’s such a good feeling to be busy and in-demand. Other actors out there know this feeling only comes so often when you’re on the East Coast. I’m definitely riding this one out and I’m going to make the most of it! Networking!!

In other news, I’mstill waiting on my 100’s of headshots to come in so I can send them out in NYC! Remember the plan: NYC then LA! Worrrrd. Later, homies!

Hampton Roads Mag — January!!

November 5th, 2008

OK, so auditions last week went better than I thought! I booked the Army Print gig in Philly! I have to be there tomorrow at 9am so I booked a hotel real close to where I need to be and I’m leaving today. Then tomorrow, I may be driving across PA to Pittsburgh to film my scene for “Sorority Row.” I haven’t received the final word yet from Nancy Mosser Casting, but I’m packing for that stay as well, just in case.

Yesterday’s audition (in Bethesda for the Marriott) was a blast! I met some really great actors and got the call today that I booked it, so I hope to see some of them in December when we shoot!
So my next couple of weeks are looking great! Being busy and having all this new income is really motivating! NYC is next on the list, then L.A.!!

PS: Received word from Pam Majumdar that the Hampton Roads Mag will be out in the January issue, so don’t go looking for it yet! It’s a sure thing in January though!

Hampton Roads Mag - Out this month!

November 3rd, 2008

Hey, people. So I haven’t heard back on the auditions from last week, which comes as no surprise because, hey, that’s the name of the game. However, I’ve got another chance tomorrow in Bethesda, MD, for a Marriott Industrial thanks to Carlyn Davis Casting and on Thursday I’m up in Pittsburgh for the filming of “Frat Guy” in the new feature “Sorority Row.” I also booked a pretty interesting gig through Modelogic next week in Richmond. It seems fun and easy, just greeting people and showing them to their seats and passing out parting gifts as they leave, can’t be that hard. So, yeah, good things on the way in spite of the last few auditions. Plus my Method class is tonight and that makes life even better.

Be on the lookout for Hampton Roads Magazine this month, I’m featured in an article! When I get my copy I’ll be sure to post it!

That’ll do it! Hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween!

Man with a plan..

October 24th, 2008

NEWS:

  • 10/17 Auditioned for some Pittsburgh PSA’s to quit smoking
  • 10/20 Auditioned for the host of an educational industrial in Arlington, VA
  • Today I was submitted for a feature film in NYC. Woop!
  • 10/29 Audition at Carlyn Davis Casting for America’s Most Wanted in Falls Church, VA
  • 11/4 Audition for Marriott Industrial in Bethesda, MD

It’s such a blessing to have a busy couple weeks ahead. Anyway onto the big news. So! I made a decision and now have a plan to go with it.

I made the decision to move to LA. I always knew I’d make it out there at some point, but now’s the time to do it. Not like, right now, but within the next year or two. My plan to get there is to save up a predetermined amount of money, then sell all (well, most) of my belongings, and finally just go. In the meantime, I’d like to generate more income and bigger resumé credits, so I made another decision to really go after voiceover work and spread my acting opportunities into NYC. For voiceover, it’s about time I take advantage of having a nationally reknowned voiceover company, StudioCenter, here in VB. I’ve set up a few private coaching sessions (Thanks, Kelley!) to really go for it 100%! Consequently, StudioCenter just bought my agency, so that merge will hopefully aid in my goal to get into the voiceover world. As for getting into NYC, I’m putting together headshot/resumé/coverletter packets to submit to some talent agencies, so we’ll hopefully hear from them soon!

So all of this pretty much makes me a busy dude, and it’s good to be busy. Remember: Work begets work!

Gaining weight is impossible!

October 9th, 2008

First off, let me give credit where credit is due. I forgot to include Allison Stout’s magnificent work on my grill (that’s my face, people) during my shoot with Mark Gamboa. I love you, Ally, and you do extraordinary work! Visit Allison’s website at At-First-Blush.com. She rocks!

Now onto the complaining. I hate my body! Actually, no, I worked very hard to gain what little muscle I currently have and for that I’m proud of myself, BUT I’ve plateau-ed at around 145lbs, my heaviest at 148. So I’ve looked into carb and protein-packed foods for that extra 8lbs or so. Monday I weighed in at the gym at 147.5. I ate all day, a protein shake and a tuna sandwich after the gym, 2 peanut butter sandwiches, 16oz of cottage cheese, a vanilla protein shake with added peanut butter, and finally a huge double ham and turkey sandwich right before bed. I wake up Tuesday, hit up the gym and weigh in after my workout: 145lbs! I LOST weight, WTF?! Sighh and yes, I know I’ll probably receive hate mail from whatever ladies are reading this because I’m complaining about LOSING weight, but for real, I need some pointers here. So yeah, I’ll just keep at it and see what happens.
Anyway, in acting news, apparently “Sorority Row” is booking parts as they shoot them. This means for me that I’m still on first refusal for those 2 roles, but casting won’t finalize them until they’re about to be shot. So I’ll most likely get the call to drop everything and go to set a day or 2 in advance. This, of course, is keeping me from finding a day job. It’s not all bad however, because more industry-related work is (and has been) coming in, I just feel like getting a job is taking a step toward moving and if I never get a day job, I’ll never make an effort to move. Then I’ll become a bum the rest of my life and die lonely! This can’t happen.

Still trying to finalize this plan I have to move before I drop the news on you all. So be on the lookout for that info. Oh and I changed my site. Definitely check it out! There’s VIDEOS on there now!!

RVA Tomorrow!

October 2nd, 2008

Richmond tomorrow! Booked a Cali-regional commercial about population stabilization. Actually I’m pretty surprised about booking this gig because they wanted a “Cool, Hip Guy in his 40’s.” Stacie, the owner of Modelogic, mentioned when she put me on tape that I didn’t have the age but I had the hipness. Thank you Being Hip For Dummies! Actually, no, that’s not a real book. Anyway, I get to work with Park Group Productions again, and I LOVE them! They filmed the Carolina West Wireless commercial and Virginian-Pilot commercial I worked on, so it’ll be nice to hang with them again!

So I think it’d be nice to make mention of my Method Acting class. This semester is NO JOKE and I love it! We just finished scene work from “Angels In America,” and talk about stretching as an actor! The characters are layered thick with emotion and distress and brokeness, and to be completely soaked in those layers and committed to our characters is amazing. It truly is BEING another person! I love this class. This week we’re working on a scene as a blind character, so I’ll probably check out Scent of a Woman for inspiration.

Well that’s about it, people. I just had to say how pleased I am with Method class. Got some other news coming, so stay tuned!

So much news it ain’t even funny.

September 28th, 2008

Well it IS pretty funny. Um, let’s see…I’m so late with this entry and so much stuff has happened. It’s too much to delve into the specifics, so List Form! Here you go:

Since the last entry:

  • I met local photographer John Rossi for lunch to discuss and set up a portfolio shoot
  • I met with Stacie Vanchieri of Modelogic-Wilhelmina in Richmond to discuss some career advice. She’s awesome by the way!
  • I ordered new headshots. I’m down to 2 in my possession.
  • I auditioned for the new feature film “House On Sorority Row”
  • I auditioned for the new feature film “Skateland”
  • I drove to Pittsburgh for the callback for “House On Sorority Row”
  • I got put on first refusal (director’s first pick) for two roles on “Sorority Row” — That’s big news
  • I attended the wrap party for Joshua Mims’ film “Imaginary Me” in which I played a lead

And that brings us up to speed. A lot has happened in almost 3 weeks.

So..”House On Sorority Row.” That’s the working title, so it may be changed in the future. This feature is a teen slasher flick that one of the chicks from MTV’s “The Hills” is playing the lead. Audrina I think is her name. I went up for the callback and read for “Mickey,” a principal role for which I did not have the look, but it was the meatiest to audition with. The director, Stewart Hendler, was great to meet with. Real down to Earth guy. I had a blast reading for him. He liked my “Mickey” so much he gave me “Drunk Guy” and “Frat Guy” (both featured roles) to read for and said, “I know you can act. I just want to see what you can do with these lines.” Long story short, I’m First Refusal (that’s the director’s first pick, now it’s got to go thru other hands for confirmation) for both roles. We’ll see which one sticks!

Stay tuned for the next entry. I want to write on a more personal note about my career, this market, the possibility of moving, and a bunch of other stuff, that I think you’d be interested in and maybe you’d even learn something.

Be good, Readers. I’m off to a portfolio shoot for a few hours. Later!
